How to get a Commerical Drivers License (CDL)?

If you want to become a truck driver, you need to be aware that there is a few requirements to fulfill. First of all, you need to be 21 years old to be able to drive in different states and 18 to drive within your state. Next step is to go to Department of Transportation (DOT) for a physical exam and drug test. You also need to have a valid driver’s license. The most important requirement to join the truck driving industry is to get a CDL license. Columbia Driving School is here to help you to achieve your goal.

To get a CDL license, you will need to pass all of the CDL tests. The test includes a theoretical and practical section. During the theoretical part, you will need to pass a written test at the Secretary of Sate. This written test checks your general knowledge about driving a truck, types of vehicles, hazardous materials and air brakes. Once you pass the required knowledge test, you will get a license. With this license you'll be able to take the final step, which is the CDL skills test. .

CDL skills test contains three parts: pre-trip inspection, basic vehicle control, and on-road driving. This section of the CDL test takes place at Columbia Driving School approved training lot. When you sign up for the CDL classes at Columbia Driving School you will receive:
